DART Blue Line Expansion
- Installed all the signals, catenary, electrification and systems
- Constructed 4.8 miles of ballasted and DF track
DART's $188 million Blue Line expansion (see the YouTube video) added 4.8 miles to the light rail line to link the downtowns of Garland and Rowlett, TX. RailWorks companies, L.K. Comstock and RailWorks Track Systems began work on the project in 2009. DART began revenue service on the extension in December 2012.
L.K. Comstock was involved in designing and installing the traction power, overhead catenary, signaling, communication, visual displays, and public address systems.
RailWorks Track Systems constructed 4.8 miles of ballasted and direct fixation track. The project featured installing track on four bridges, including two with direct fixation, one over the Kansas City Southern Railway line at Garland and the other over Rowlett Creek.
